Modern Technology Irony

I don't know if any of you feel the same way as I do, but modern technology sucks!

And I wouldn't want to live without it!

I have a blackberry curve 8520 and it started acting up just last week. Turning itself off and then when it turns back on it just goes to a white screen... Ok now I have worked tech support for the blackberry so I knew what that meant... Software or update issue...

Well I called the tech support and they told me that I needed to re-install the software (newest update)... So I did... that seemed to work... sorta...

Then today, during a call for work to the AT&T tech support (I am starting to hate tech support, even though 2 of the one's I spoke to today were nice), my phone gave out... Just up and died!

Thankfully I predicted this happening and took my power cord with me to work. So while having a minor freak attack praying that the agent would call me back (like they are supposed to), I plugged my phone in and had just gotten it turned back on when it rang and the caller id said it was AT&T!

Now at this time I am both shocked as all hell and thankful that he called back! So I got the work issue fixed (I HOPE!!!!!)....

Now back to my phone... I borrowed my room mates phone, came home and called T-moblie tech support and told them I needed a new battery... Ok, this is where the problem started!

The agent I spoke with basically told me I was out of luck and that I had to order a battery from 'somewhere online' her words not mine...I asked her if since I had been having repeated issues with my phone if any of it was covered by the 2 different insurances that I have on my phone and she said 'no, I can't do anything to help you resolve this issue, but I am sorry that you are having difficulty'... She said that the warranty expired on Sept 13.

so I ended the call... (yes before you ask, I just hung up on her...) which is something that I don't normally do, but her whole attitude during the call ticked me off...

So a few minutes later I realized that it wasn't September yet, so out of curiosity and wanting to double check I was getting the correct information, I called back...Got a different agent. Latisha...

This is where it got interesting.

After explaining the situation, Latisha said, "let me check into something'... After a few moments she came back and said that unfortunately the warranty for the battery is only 90 days, and it expired in 2010. But that since I have been having problems with the phone she could issue an exchange because of the insurance.

She also said that since I had been having so much trouble and that since I do use it for work (which I do at times), she would waive the expedition fee and since it's before 5 it would go out today and I will have it by tomorrow.

Now after this I requested to speak to her supervisor and informed the supervisor that Latisha's customer service not only rocked but kicked ass!

So I should have a new (ish) phone tomorrow and all will be right with my world once again...

:D

But I still say that modern technology is a pain in the ass!

But again, I wouldn't want to live without it!
